SUMMARY:Environmental Peacebuilding
DESCRIPTION:Practitioner Training in Präsenz\nParticipants are able\n• to identify the interaction between environmental factors and violent conflicts as well as peacebuilding processes\n• to reflect on de-colonial perspectives on and the importance of indigenous/local knowledge about the environment\n• to strategise how environmental issues can be addressed in a peacebuilding process \nBuilding peace can only be truly successful if also the environment is protected. In violent conflicts\, ecosystems are often sufffering\, if not destroyed. The exploitation of natural resources can be the key interest in a conflict setting. At the same time\, environmental factors like a drought or flood and other effects of the climate crisis can lead to more tensions\, more competition and conflicts\, or at the same time be an entry point to transform socio-political conflicts. Thus\, peacebuilding should include the environment\, as a factor for peace and conflict. In this training we will analyse case studies which demonstrate how environmental issues affect conflicts.
